Chinese music and Western music have their own characteristics. Would a fusion of the two bring harmony or discord?
The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Luxembourg Sinfonietta co-organised the Luxembourg International Composition Prize 2013 and called for entries - each piece had to be written for seven Chinese instruments and seven Western instruments, and complemented by specific image projections. Although the same projecctions were used, the compositions from around the world varied greatly, just as how a work of art can be interpreted differently.
The selected works of the competition will be presented at the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
